Several years ago, the only type of outdoor post lights were public streetlights. Now, however, homeowners are using outdoor post lighting for different areas of their homes.

Outdoor post lights, a type of pole lighting, are excellent for bright illumination because they provide a type of downlighting, meaning that the light comes from above and is cast downward. Just as streetlights cast light on the road, home outdoor pole lighting is used to cast light on driveways, home entrances, and landscaping.

LED Lighting is everywhere nowadays, in your car, in your kitchen, in clubs and bars and even in research facilities. So why is LED lighting gradually taking over from other types of domestic and industrial lighting?

Firstly LED Lighting is far more efficient and flexible. Its power consumption is on average approximately 5% of the equivalent brightness halogen or fluorescent lamp. For locations using vast quantities of light this is obviously going to be a huge saving on energy bills and is also much more environmentally friendly, it also helpful in battery powered situations as it prolongs battery life.

Hallways are one of the most overlooked areas in many homes when it comes to adequate lighting. Homeowners will spend a considerable amount of money purchasing and installing lighting fixtures for the foyer or entryway of their home and then neglect the adjacent hallway.

Before considering hallway lighting, it’s a good idea to take a look at the hallway surfaces. Look at the finish on the walls and the ceiling as well as the type and color of the floor. If the various surfaces absorb light (that is, they are darker colors), you may want to consider repainting the walls and the ceiling with lighter, more reflective colors. If the floor is hardwood or another surface that would be hard to change, consider lighter colored throw rugs along the passageway.
